The Status Quo
Between red-eye flights, lonely hotel rooms, and packed schedules, business travel isn’t always as glamorous as it seems.
What’s discussed far less often is the impact this kind of travel can have on mental health.
A recent survey from Booking revealed that the top concern for corporate travellers is loneliness. When you zoom in on younger professionals, the data gets even more striking: Gen Z experiences loneliness significantly more than older age groups.
So, why is that?
Gen Z is the most digitally connected generation in history — yet they’re also the most socially disconnected. Forbes has gone as far as to label this a "loneliness epidemic" among Gen Z. They report feeling isolated even more acutely than those aged 65 and older.
It’s a simple equation: take an already lonely demographic and place them in an isolating environment. The result is obvious — and troubling.
As more Gen Z professionals enter the workforce, this problem is only going to grow.
What does Gen Z want from business travel?
Connection, meaning, real experiences.
At Roamr, we’re reimagining what corporate travel can be. We believe in a future where business trips are built around community — where staying with friends or colleagues is encouraged so that teams can flourish.
This is a generation raised on the sharing economy, social networks, and co-living. For them, walking into a hotel room doesn’t feel professional — it feels empty.
Now compare that to staying in an apartment with teammates or friends — where the day ends around a shared meal, some laughter, and meaningful connection.
We say, forget the mini bar — real value comes from real company.
